This exciting new, joint post with Guy’s & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) has been created to further strengthen the rich and growing programme of Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) research & education within the broadly defined area of health psychology, and to set up a psychology service within Adult Congenital Heart Diseases Clinic (ACHD).

It provides an outstanding opportunity for a clinical health psychologist with an emerging national/international reputation to develop their own academic career and to further strengthen the IoPPN’s position as a leader in the field of clinical health psychology.

In teaching, the post holder will be ideally placed to support training in health psychology and related programmes at the IoPPN. In the clinical service, the post will provide opportunities to develop a dedicated evidence based specialists clinical health psychology service to address the needs of patients & families as well as to provide specialist advice/education to staff to create an effective care model.

Applicants must possess a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or Stage II Clinical Health Psychology qualification (or equivalents), and be HCPC registered (or eligible for registration). Also essential are good research skills relevant to own specialist area (s); delivering high quality university teaching; experience of working as a qualified health/clinical psychologist in a physical health setting & exercising full clinical responsibility for the assessment of psychological needs & the implementation of evidence based treatment, such as CBT or ACT working within an interdisciplinary care plan.
