Marketing and Communications Team Leader

The School of Law (SOL) is one of eight schools in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and is currently looking to recruit a Marketing and Communications Team Leader.

The School of Law has two organisational units: the Department of Law (DOL) and the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS). In 2015 we celebrated 50 years of law at Queen Mary University of London. Established in 1965, the School of Law has grown from 30 students and four academic staff, to 1,939 students and 115 academic staff. CCLS has become one of the world’s leading academic institutions for the study of commercial law. CCLS covers the whole spectrum of commercial law, and around a thousand students from some 80 countries study for masters and doctorate degrees. The Department of Law focuses on the culture and institutions of the rule of law in creating civil society at all levels from the local to the transnational. As one of the largest law schools in the UK, we provide high quality teaching to more than 800 undergraduate students.

CCLS has a team of approximately 40 Professional Service staff and the DOL approximately 20 Professional Services staff to support the School’s teaching and research priorities. The Directors of Administration in the DOL and CCLS are further developing shared working arrangements in the area of marketing and communications which are vital to the Schools continued market presence and reputation. This post will play a significant role in promoting the School’s global reach and internationalisation through the development of an engagement and communication strategy.

The successful candidate will have a successful record of developing and implementing marketing and communication plans for a large and complex organisation and a comprehensive understanding and experience of the use of digital marketing. Candidates will need to have excellent communication, planning and organisational skills, and be capable of developing strong and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Proven leadership and management skills in a similar context / environment are also essential.

The post is full time and permanent. Starting salary will be in the range £36,064 - £42,431 per annum (Grade 5) inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and an interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
