Postdoctoral Research Assistant

Grade:£28,452 to £32,004 per annum together with USS benefits

The main role in this post is to carry out duties associated with two projects within the Department of Biosciences (College of Science), namely the INTERREG Ireland-Wales project ‘ECOSTRUCTURE’ and the NERC project ‘COASTWEB’. In particular, within ECOSTRUCTURE (2/3 of time) the person will carry out studies on the biodiversity and ecosystem services of hard coastal defence structures (e.g., seawalls) and how these are affected by structural and biological factors. Meanwhile, within COASTWEB (1/3 of time) the person will carry out physical and ecological surveys of estuaries and model the flood mitigation services of salt marshes under different management scenarios.
