A postdoctoral Research Associate position is available for an outstanding and ambitious Material Scientist, Physicist or Electrical Engineer with strong background in production of 2D materials, electrical and thermal characterization of solids and surface characterization techniques. You will be fully dedicated to the research activity aimed at development of flexible thermoelectric devices based on the laminates of 2D materials. All project activities are to be based in the National Graphene Institute, University of Manchester, and will benefit from its outstanding laboratory facilities.

You should have, or be working towards, a PhD or equivalent in Material Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering. Expertise in electrical, thermal and thermoelectrical characterization of solids is essential. Knowledge of various exfoliation techniques of 2D materials is also important. You must be prepared to participate in an interdisciplinary research linking production of laminates of 2D materials with thermoelectric properties of transitional metals dichalcogenides. You will become a member of the recently formed National Graphene Institute team and will have potential prospects to be involved in other industrial and/or research projects based in the Institute. Also, you should be capable of working under your own initiative and leading a small research team of students, so excellent communication and organisational skills are required.
