Lecturer/Senior Lecturer – Sports Therapy 0.5 FTE
Fixed Term Contract for 23 months

The Applied Health and Exercise Sciences Department is a well-established provider of sports degrees. Located within the School of Health and Social Sciences, the department delivers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in exercise science. Our undergraduate programmes consist of BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science, BA (Hons) and BA (Hons) in Sports Development and Coaching, BA (Hons) Exercise, Health and Fitness Management and BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning. Our BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy is accredited by The Society of Sports Therapists and we also deliver a British Psychological Society accredited BSc (Hons) Sports Psychology.

The Department has a strong track record of research consistently rated as internationally excellent. We have a wide range of relationships with National Governing Bodies of Sport, professional and voluntary clubs, and we provide sport science and therapy support services to a number of teams and individual athletes.

We have first class scientific facilities. Our new Centre for Human Performance, Exercise and Wellbeing houses our Sports & Wellbeing Clinic and our Human Performance Laboratory. Our lab boasts a 3 lane indoor track, 3D motion capture, Olympic lifting platforms and neurotracker.

Role responsibilities: These will involve facilitating learning in classrooms, including via web-based media and in placement settings, plus the supervision of student dissertations. You will also be required to undertake module leadership/specific project leadership as appropriate.

Applicants: Candidates will be registered with The Society of Sports Therapists or a professional body of a similar ranking. You will also be a graduate in a relevant field and hold a postgraduate qualification. BASES accreditation and other relevant professional qualifications (e.g. REPS level 3) are desirable. Recent experience of working with students in a Higher Education Institution or in professional practice is desirable. You will be a self-starter, have demonstrable ability to work within a team and have excellent communications skills.

A teaching qualification or willingness to undertake one will be essential.
