Collaborative robotics, where humans and robots share the same work spaces, is an exciting and emerging technology pushing the boundaries of what was previously possible in the application of industrial robotics.  Of particular interest is understanding how tasks and operations can be shared efficiently between the human operator and the robot.

In support of this Cranfield University and BAE Systems have formed an exciting collaboration to investigate Human Robot Collaboration in Aerospace manufacturing and a fully funded PhD studentship has been made available. The PhD student will be based at Cranfield but will be expected to work closely with BAE Systems engineers at Samlesbury Lancashire and across other company sites.

The successful candidate will be supervised by Professor Phil Webb who is a leading authority in the area but they will also be expected to work closely with the Industrial Psychology and Human Factors Group at Cranfield. In addition an industrial supervisor will be assigned from within BAE Systems.
