Summary of Job Purpose and Principal Duties

We are seeking to make a new professorial appointment in the field of energy law to enhance academic leadership of CEPMLP’s suite of graduate programmes, including LLM, MSc and PhD; to make a major contribution to its research activity leading to REF; to champion CEPMLP’s growing profile in the new energy resources and low carbon transition, and to contribute to its expanding distance learning programme. The candidate would be expected to take a leading role in the global energy networks that CEPMLP has with international organisations such as the World Bank, the African Development Bank and the International Bar Association.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to academic staff and contribute to the design of new research and teaching programmes, particularly in the field of distance learning;
  • Collaborate with colleagues in research and scholarship at CEPMLP and with other parts of the School especially in Law and Business;
  • Disseminate research findings and make presentations at national and international conferences and similar events;
  • Provide leadership and the active promotion of CEPMLP through its international engagements;
  • Develop at least one new module in Energy Law;
  • Contribute to the School’s excellence agenda by producing impactful research eligible for submission to the Research Excellence Framework (REF);
  • Work with the Director to identify opportunities and build effective international collaboration and partnerships that support and enhance the School’s research agenda;
  • Work with the Director and key staff to help drive the development of an internationally focused curriculum;
  • Work with the relevant CEPMLP staff to embed the acquisition of global knowledge through interdisciplinary and distance learning;
  • Support the accreditation processes of the School and its component disciplines by leading and coordinating specific accreditation efforts when they focus on internationalisation;
  • Ensure that all opportunities to demonstrate the impact of these research activities on wider society are explored and prioritised;
  • Engage in interdisciplinary research and knowledge exchange with other academic or professional partners.
