Student Experience Manager, Degree Apprenticeships

The Open University is the world’s leading distance learning institution. The Faculty of Business and Law is currently expanding its degree apprenticeships programmes and is seeking to recruit a Student Experience Manager on a 3 year Fixed Term Contract to 31 July 2020 who will make a significant contribution to the Student Experience of degree apprentices studying with the Faculty.

The Student Experience Manager’s role is diverse and challenging – making a key contribution to operational delivery alongside the academic development of new work-based curriculum. The wide ranging nature of the role will involve integrated working with academic and delivery teams across the University. The work of the SEM will embrace the line management of Associate Lecturers and Practice Tutors, advice and support to students including the design and development of targeted learner support and contribution to module/programme development.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for the development and implementation of robust learner support across a number of degree apprenticeship programmes offered by the Faculty.  They will be responsible for recruiting Practice Tutors who will support students on the apprenticeship programmes, induction and quarterly review meetings with apprentice learners in their place of work, working as part of module teams to develop new work-based learning modules, working collaboratively with the Apprenticeship Programme Delivery Manager team in BDU, programme briefings, staff development events and other associated activities

You will need a relevant qualification at Masters level or equivalent; a successful record of managing people; an understanding and experience of the pedagogy underpinning distance teaching and learning in a work-based context;  demonstrable experience of  using technologies to support online learners; the ability to be flexible, resilient and a team player; and to be computer literate. Experience of teaching business is desirable.
