Educational Developer

Lancaster University - Organisation and Educational Development

Lancaster University is seeking an enthusiastic Educational Developer to support the implementation of its new Education Strategy. You will be principally responsible for the leadership and coordination of a range of activities centered on sharing and promoting effective educational practice across the institution. You will also be expected to make key contributions to the design, development, and facilitation of HEA accredited taught and experience-based programmes, and will have the opportunity to support educational development activity with Lancaster’s International Teaching Partnerships in Malaysia, Ghana, and China.

You will provide expertise, leadership, and high-quality professional development to staff in support of the University’s strategic educational objectives, working in close collaboration with colleagues from OED and the wider institution. Managing a portfolio of initiatives focused on fostering an institution wide community of educational practice enhancement, you will act as a crucial point of support and expertise in relation to the continuous development of individual and institution-wide teaching excellence at Lancaster.

You will be able to demonstrate a track record of success in supporting the educational practice and development of individual university staff, and an ability to engage and work effectively across department, faculty, and institutional levels to enable transformational changes in practice that positively impact on student learning.

You will have significant expertise in relation to the continuing professional development and recognition of academic and professional colleagues, with a demonstrable knowledge of the HEA UKPSF. Building on your experience of educational development within the UK and/or international HE sectors, you will also contribute to the design, planning, and delivery of educational development programmes and interventions. Located within the Organisation and Educational Development (OED) team at Lancaster, the role will require a balance between independent working and operating closely with colleagues across the wider OED function. Demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will be required to regularly liaise with senior academic leadership, faculties, and academic departments, and student-facing professional services – providing the best possible support to those that engage with our development offer.

Through your teaching practice, careful insights into the HE environment, and ability to support high-quality development, you will work to further enhance Lancaster University’s reputation as a highly successful research and teaching institution, recognised on the international stage.

Applications are welcomed from those with a passion for educational development, who enjoy working with colleagues from a wide range of educational and cultural backgrounds, and who hold a desire to work in a vibrant and ambitious university.

Lancaster University - ensuring equality of opportunity and celebrating diversity.
