PhD Studentships in the Faculty of Arts

The Faculty of Arts at the University of Wolverhampton is offering four PhD studentships for three years of full-time study.

  • A University funded study under the title:  “Representations of Trauma in Male Protagonists of Post-Millennial Television” For further discussion potential students should speak to the lead Supervisor: Professor Dariusz Galasinski  d.galasinski@wlv.ac.uk
  • The Dean’s Studentship in Music related research areas. This study will focus on the archive of the Worfield Music Foundation held at the University. Potential students are encouraged to speak to the project research Supervisor: Dr John Pymm J.M.Pymm@wlv.ac.uk                                                                                                                                     
  • Faculty bursary in Film and Media related studies. We are interested in proposals that are practice-led or theory-based concerning aspects of narrated space in film; animation; or video performance.   • Faculty bursary in the Creative Arts. We are interested in practice-led proposals that concern either new technologies or issues of abstraction, representation and expression in the studio-based areas of painting, glass and ceramics. For further discussion please contact the following Supervisors: Glass and ceramics - Dr Max Stewart max.stewart@wlv.ac.uk / Painting - Dr Christian Mieves christian.mieves@wlv.ac.uk. Applicants should be highly motivated with a Master’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject. Applicants should send the following information by the deadline of Thursday 31 August 2017:

  • A completed University of Wolverhampton PhD ‘Expression of Interest’ form, available from the website, with details of the research investigation i.e. research question/s, methodology and anticipated contribution to knowledge.
  • Proof of an IELTS score of 7 only for international applicants .
  • An academic CV with letters of support from two academic referees.
  • Documentation of any practical work in CD, DVD or 35mm slides.
  • A stamped self-addressed envelope for the return of visual material.
