LJMU currently has a vacancy for a Client Systems Engineer in the Client Management Team, supporting the most visible part of the technology landscape.

You will join a key team within the Infrastructure group, with responsibility for client development, management and support for an estate of almost 6000 endpoint systems

Preferably educated to degree level, you will be experienced in all aspects of client systems development, delivery, security and support. You will also be able to demonstrate excellent customer facing skills.

IT Services manages all University Desktop and Laptop PCs for both staff and students of the University. Student PCs are currently Windows 10 while the Staff PCs are predominantly still Windows 7 but the process of upgrading these to Windows 10 is now underway.

The expansion of this team is to provide additional capacity to support the growing and diversifying PC estate and allow for provision of other managed services such as Apple and mobile devices, so any experience in these areas would be advantageous.

Ideally you will have

  • Extensive experience of Windows desktop operating systems ideally Windows 10
  • Experience of managing Windows clients in a Microsoft Active Directory environment
  • In-depth working knowledge of Microsoft System Centre Configuration manager
  • Experience of zero touch operating system deployment technologies such MDT/SCCM
  • An excellent understanding of PC security and anti-malware
  • Exposure to script programming using Microsoft CMD, VBScript and PowerShell is desirable
  • A methodical and meticulous attitude towards all aspects of their work
