The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology LMB is one of the birthplaces of molecular biology and excels at deciphering the molecular mechanisms of life. The LMB houses around 350 scientists and is located in the beautiful city of Cambridge, UK, around 60 miles north of London.

We are recruiting a research assistant to work with Dr Andrew Carter’s group studying the structure and mechanism of the microtubule motor dynein. The aim is to assist in the production of challenging multi protein complexes for structural and biochemical analysis. 

Applicants should have a BSc or higher level qualification in a relevant field of science or engineering.  Experience in one or more of the following areas would be an advantage: molecular biology, cell culture and protein expression and purification.

Your responsibilities will include all steps of protein production i.e. growth and maintenance of insect and mammalian cell lines, cloning, protein expression and protein purification. This will also involve purification of complexes from native sources.  You will work as a team with other members of the lab.
