UEA has some of the most innovative and highly regarded centres for research in the UK. Applications are invited for the post of Senior Research Associate to join the project “Atmospheric Observations and Interpretation of Trace Gases, for Greenhouse Gas Inventory Verification” funded by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy BEIS .

You will have responsibility for measurements made at Tacolneston, Norfolk where, with the support of a part-time technician, you will ensure the smooth running of the automated instruments, perform quality control measures on the collected data, and will be encouraged to conduct your own independent investigations of the network measurements, with a view to improving understanding of the sources of these gases in the UK. You will join the project team comprising UEA, Bristol University the lead institute , the Met Office, and office staff from BEIS.

You will have a minimum of a relevant postgraduate research degree or equivalent professional experience in the research area, and be able to fulfil all essential elements of the person specification. You must also have recent significant previous experience of independent research. The post is part-time 0.4 FTE/40% for a period of 1 year. There may be some possibility of renewal, depending on whether BEIS seek to renew the contract in 2018.
