Salary: £26,829 to £28,452 (PhD not yet awarded)
           £29,301 to £38,183 (PhD awarded)

Please be advised that due to a new minimum salary threshold of £30,000 per annum imposed by the UKVI, this post may not qualify for University sponsorship under Tier 2 of the points based system.

Based in the Northern Institute for Cancer Research, Newcastle University. In this project, you will aim to improve therapy efficacy and quality of patient life by developing novel non-genotoxic combination treatments for childhood ALL. You will combine OMICS data with CRISPR/RNAi screens to identify therapeutic vulnerabilities and to exploit them by testing drug combinations in cell lines, patient cells and PDX models all established in the lab. You will work with Profs Olaf Heidenreich and Josef Vormoor in a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and scientists towards high impact publications.

You will hold a PhD in a relevant subject of molecular biology, drug discovery or bioinformatics (or be working towards a PhD for appointment at Assistant level) and will have a keen interest in joining wet lab skills with bioinformatics skills.

You will be able to demonstrate commitment to a research career as well as be responsible, adaptable and proactive.

This post is available fixed term for three years from 01 October 2017, and is full time.
