The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of Li Ka Shing Institute of Professional and Continuing Education (LiPACE).

The University
Established by the Hong Kong Government in 1989 as a provider of distance education, OUHK began offering full-time face-to-face degree programmes in 2001. Over the years we have grown into a leader in open and flexible education in the Asia Pacific region, and our full-time face-to-face programmes for qualified secondary school leavers are on par with other established universities across Hong Kong. OUHK today is a young, dynamic, full-fledged university.

Li Ka Shing Institute of Professional & Continuing Education (LiPACE)
As one of the five academic units of the OUHK, the LiPACE is a dynamic, market-oriented and fast growing continuing education provider. With the mission of promoting life-long learning, the LiPACE offers a variety of flexible and high-quality educational opportunities, with an emphasis on face-to-face teaching, to the public for personal development, career advancement and appreciation of life. These include professional and training programmes, full-time programmes (e.g. Diploma Yi Jin, Diploma and Higher Diploma), full-time/part-time degree and masters programmes in collaboration with overseas institutions, and the Capacity Building Mileage Programme (a flexible learning project designed to equip women with a positive mindset and develop their potential) in collaboration with the Women’s Commission.

The Position
The University is looking for a high-caliber professional with strong management and leadership skills to fill the position.

The appointee shall be responsible to the President via the Vice President (Academic) for the overall management of the Institute. He/she shall provide the necessary academic leadership and support for the planning, development and delivery of programmes and courses. He/she is expected to respond swiftly to the market needs and participate in the administration of the University as one of the members of the University’s Senate and Management Board.

The Candidate
Applicants and nominees should possess an earned doctorate degree with solid academic and scholarly credentials, and an excellent record of professional and community services. He/she should have substantial experience in the field of continuing & community education with an understanding of the diverse education and training needs of the Hong Kong community. The appointee must possess dynamic leadership, high integrity, sound judgment, excellent interpersonal and management skills as well as high language proficiency in English and Chinese preferable including Putonghua.

Remuneration Package
The University will offer the right candidate an attractive remuneration package which includes annual leave, medical & dental benefits, contract-end gratuity and life insurance coverage. The successful candidate will be appointed on a fixed-term contract (renewal subject to mutual consent ).
