Library Operations and Services Manager

We are seeking a proactive leader who will motivate a team of over 50 Public Services staff towards a culture of service excellence and liaise closely with a range of stakeholders to develop and manage inspirational spaces for independent study and research. The Public Services team manages a number of libraries and study spaces, several of which are open 24/7, and assists our community of over 23,000 students and 4,000 staff to access and use library resources and facilities effectively. The post holder will report directly to the University Librarian, and contribute to the strategic development of Library Services as a member of the Senior Management Team.

You will have substantial experience of managing spaces to provide safe and welcoming environments for a variety of customers with different needs, and have a good awareness of recent trends and developments in the design and management of library buildings and other study spaces. You will have an excellent track record of managing staff relationships to effect positive change, and of managing complex projects to a successful outcome. You will have a flexible and adaptable approach which allows you to respond effectively to operational challenges as they arise in a busy, multi-site service.

Location: Based at Mile End Library, but required to travel regularly to the Whitechapel and West Smithfield campuses as required by the needs of the service.

Hours: 35 hours per week, which may include evenings or weekends on a rota basis.

Starting salary will be in the range £44,815-£50,030 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
