Imperial College is currently developing a new and innovative campus at White City, with the research activities of the Department of Chemistry being the first to occupy space from 2018. This is an exciting time for both the College and the Department, giving us opportunities to expand and develop the current provision, both in terms of Research and Teaching.

We are seeking a Research Operations Manager to cover the maternity leave of the current postholder. Working closely with the Departmental Operations Manager, the Research Operations Manager will be involved in identifying strategic objectives and priorities for the Department and will coordinate and manage the research proposal development process within the Department. The role will also involve management of a team of four Administrators.

You will be educated to degree level in a relevant subject or will hold a relevant professional qualification related to the work of this post. You will also have substantial hands on experience in a similar or related role and will have demonstrated your development through involvement in a series of progressively more demanding work/roles. You will have previous experience of line managing administrative staff, along with experience of working in a Higher Education environment. Experience of research grants management is also essential, along with knowledge of Human Resources procedures.

The College cannot normally apply for a Certificate of Sponsorship for this post under Tier 2 of the UKVI’s Points Based System. Any candidate, who is considering applying for this position and requires sponsorship, must ensure that they are able to obtain permission to work in the UK through an appropriate immigration route.
