The Oxford Department of International Development is seeking a Deputy Administrator who will work closely with, and be responsible to, the Head of Administration (HoA). The Deputy will have lead responsibility for Human Resources (HR) administration, will undertake project work on behalf of the HoA and line manage the Administrative Assistant. S/he will provide support and guidance on HR matters to the Department, the HoA and other senior staff. S/he will deputise for the HoA as required. The post is full-time and permanent.

The successful candidate will hold an honours degree or equivalent experience, with demonstrable relevant experience of working in Human Resources, advising on HR matters, and an in-depth knowledge of the recruitment life cycle. The postholder will regularly handle complex matters requiring sound judgement under pressure and the ability to communicate effectively and persuasively, as well as excellent managerial, organisational and interpersonal skills, in particular the ability to handle confidential personnel matters with sensitivity, tact and discretion. The Deputy Administrator will also possess the ability to understand and interpret complex ideas and discuss these with colleagues at all levels, and to think laterally and creatively to resolve problems. A high level of computer literacy with expertise in MS Office packages, using spreadsheets and databases, and in maintaining websites and online content, is also essential.
