Mathematical / Statistical Modeller in Health Economics

Bangor University - School of Healthcare Sciences

The Centre for Health Economics and Medicines Evaluation has a portfolio of research projects in the areas of economic evaluation alongside clinical trials, pharmaceutical economics and policy, public health economics and methodological research. Based on research outputs, the recent Research Excellence Framework indicated that we are rated 3rd out of 94 institutions across the UK, with 95% of outputs being world leading and internationally excellent.

We are seeking a post-doctoral researcher with quantitative skills to join our team. The work will involve modelling the cost effectiveness of a range of clinical and public health interventions and provide opportunities for methodological research. This is an exciting opportunity for career advancement, at a vibrant health economics research centre, in a beautiful part of North Wales.

Applications are welcome from candidates with a PhD (or near to completion) bringing transferable skills from a relevant subject area (for example mathematics, physics, statistics, operational research, engineering). The candidate will have good technical knowledge, an appreciation for subjects related to health and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.

The post is available from 1 October 2017 for 24 months (some flexibility in start date). An extension beyond this will be dependent on research funding being awarded to the post holder and the research unit. CHEME has a good track record of continued post-doctoral employment of PhD students.

Application forms and further particulars should be obtained by contacting Human Resources, Bangor University; tel: 01248 382926/383865; e-mail:; web:

Closing date for applications: 25th August, 2017. Interviews will be held during the first week of September 2017.
