Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE) is a central professional service department, which works to support the University’s ambitious goals for growth. The team is responsible for the central management and delivery of RKE strategy through the provision of comprehensive support to academic departments in the development of; research income and wider research environment, impact & public engagement activities, and business partnerships & collaborations. The team also supports the University’s growing provision for SMEs and widening regional activities across a range of sectors.

In the competitive UK landscape for research and the changing expectations of research funders, RKE is leading the operational change management needed to ensure that Manchester Met continues to remain competitive and can successfully deliver on its research and knowledge exchange ambitions. To achieve this, staff work closely with academic colleagues and support productive partnerships with key regional, national and international research and innovation funders.


The two new posts of Research Delivery Officer (Post-Award), has been established in the context of the increasing importance of effective integration of operational support for grant application, award, delivery and reporting. The post holder will work with a team of colleagues to deliver a high quality post-award support service to academic and professional support service colleagues engaged in the delivery of research and knowledge exchange (RKE) projects. They will act as the main point of contact for all RKE project delivery related queries and requests and will support a large portfolio of projects, involving multiple internal and external partners and operating to strict funder regulations with regard to interim and final claims and financial management.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be an individual capable of taking the initiative by recognising external factors with implications for RKE projects at Manchester Met and informing and mobilising colleagues across a number of departments to support the seamless delivery of new research and knowledge exchange projects. To achieve this, the post-holder will be expected to develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of funders’ operational and financial reporting procedures and ensure wide communication of any changes to relevant academic colleagues and partners.

This opportunity would suit a pro-active candidate with, good organisational and analytical skills, some expertise in research support, demonstrable understanding of the UK funding landscape and knowledge of the broad operational activities that underpin successful project delivery.
