The post
The College wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to participate in developing a programme of interdisciplinary research into the historical, social and cultural factors shaping stress and burn-out among doctors and medical students. This Wellcome-Trust funded full-time, fixed term post is available from 1st October 2017 to 31st December 2018 (15 months). The successful applicant will contribute to the development of the project, identify appropriate sources and methods, build networks with academics and health practitioners nationally and internationally, and author high-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals.

About you
The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding; contribute to the process of securing funds; and make presentations at conferences and other events.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant will be a nationally recognised authority in the medical humanities and/or social sciences and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies relating to the project. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively (particularly with colleagues in the Medical School), supervise the work of others, and act as team leader as required.
