University of Leicester - International Office

Contract Type:

Post 1: Full time / Permanent

Post 2: Full time / Fixed term maternity cover contract from 02/10/2017 until 30/09/2018 (or until the post holder returns)

Together our staff and students are discovering innovative ways to change the world for the better and there has never been a more exciting time for you to join us. We are ranked in the top 1% of universities worldwide and have an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research. We are led by discovery and innovation, with the synergy between research and learning at the core of our activity.

We are keen to welcome two new International Officers into our International Office department. There is both a permanent and a maternity cover contract available. In this role, you will support the development of the University’s International Student recruitment strategy, both generically and for designated markets, with a particular focus on customer service and relationship management.

Part of your primary duties will be to manage and develop effective working relationships with the University’s overseas representatives and with students referred by those representatives in designated markets. This includes; advice and guidance; liaison with the Admissions Office and admissions tutors to ensure prompt turnaround and tracking of applications in order to maximise offer and conversion rates; providing support for decision-making through knowledge of local education systems and qualifications and the University’s English language requirements; subsequent contact with and continuing support for offer-holders in designated markets in the period up to registration.

As an International Officer, you will represent the University at recruitment-related events, such as education exhibitions, and targeted promotional visits, in designated overseas markets and in the UK, which will require working irregular hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

As the appointee, you will be educated to degree level or equivalent and experience since completion of first degree study in one or more of the following areas:

  • A university or education environment
  • A marketing, communications or customer service-based environment.

These roles would be ideal for those who have personal experience of study/living in a country other than the UK plus cultural awareness and sensitivity to deal with international organisations and individuals. We look forward to receiving your application.
