Student Activities Co-ordinator (Societies)

Kent Students' Union

Generous pension and benefits

37 days annual leave rising to 42 after 5 years

Kent Union is a successful, vibrant and exciting organisation with a bright future ahead of us. We have achieved a great deal in the last few years, more than doubling in size to our current £11million turnover, 500 employees and 2,000+ volunteers. Kent Union is a great place to work. We were re-accredited with Investor in People Gold status in December 2013, and were accredited with Leaders in Diversity in 2013; we were the first students union in the UK to achieve Investing in Volunteers status and have been included in the Sunday Times 100 Best Not-For-Profit Organisations to Work For, for 8 years, placed 24th for 2017.

The Student Activities Department is at the heart of Kent Union offering a wide range of opportunities, from joining a sports club or society to volunteering or fundraising. We currently have over 200 student led sports clubs and societies with over 7,000 members which offer something for everyone.

It is an exciting time to be joining the Student Activities Department; we will be moving over to a new membership system which will improve our interaction and communication with our members, this will also include a new online finance system that will transform the way our groups operate. We have also recently been awarded some additional funding from the University which will significantly enhance the activities our groups are able to offer.

The post holder will have a central role within the team with a responsibility for coaching, empowering and supporting our societies with the co-ordination of their activities. This will include acting as a day to day contact for queries, providing developmental support and assisting with the delivery of key events throughout the year such as; International Showcase, Award Ceremonies and Networking Nights. We are looking to increase the number of students engaged in societies and empower them to contribute towards the student experience of our members, therefore it’s an exciting time to be joining the team.
