Liverpool Hope University is a vibrant community with high scholarly standards. We are proud of our past, confident in our present and ambitious for our future. Research is central to our curriculum development and enhancement and all academic staff at the University engage in research. Building upon our REF 2014 submission we are looking with ambition and confidence to the next REF, strengthening even further our research degree programme (PhD and EdD). This developing research expertise builds upon and complements our already well established reputation for excellence in teaching and learning. Our policy is to combine these elements of our work in keeping with the University’s stated academic profile as a research-informed teaching University of distinction. It is in this context that we now seek scholars in a number of areas who will join with us in pursuit of excellence; these opportunities include the post of:

Applications are invited for an outstanding candidate with a broad knowledge and experience of food science and nutrition. The successful candidate is required to have a PhD in an appropriate area of food science or nutrition and to be committed to conducting research of a high quality. Registration with the Association for Nutrition (AfN) or demonstration of eligibility of registration is essential.

The post holder will be expected to teach on and develop the broad nutrition and food science curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate level. In line with this, applications are particularly welcomed from individuals who are able to contribute to the teaching of food science elements especially with excellent knowledge and understanding of consumer sciences and sensory evaluation of food as well as food technology, food safety, food processing, biochemistry/food chemistry and microbiology and food composition. Additionally, candidates should be competent and confident in application of the knowledge of dietary guidelines to nutrition especially within the field of new product development.
