Lecturer in Building Surveying

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Building Surveying who will be expected to contribute to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in building surveying and built environment programmes in order to achieve outstanding learning outcomes for our students.

Significant professional experience and a proven track record in research are both desirable for this post, and the appointee will be expected to engage in research and/or scholarly/professional activity to enhance and inform the teaching delivery and curriculum development.

The post holder will be expected to make an enthusiastic contribution to the life of the department and faculty, and as well as teach general Building Surveying subjects, to teach in specific areas of the syllabus such as facilities management, Building Information Modelling, and conservation. The appointee will have strong competency in industry software such as Autodesk Revit and Autodesk to support specialist courses in the department. Other duties will depend upon the background of the appointee.

The post-holder’s duties and responsibilities will lie in the following areas:

  • Contribute to the teaching of building surveying, building technology, Building Information Modelling, facilities management, and conservation at UG and PG level.
  • Contribute to teaching of specialist technical subjects such as Autodesk Revit and Autodesk to support and help develop the specialist practices in the department.
  • Act as a personal tutor where appropriate.
  • Contribute to the research/knowledge exchange activities of the Department and the wider Faculty.
  • Undertake any other duties, which fall within the remit of the post.
