School Manager

Applications are invited for the post of School Manager in the School of Engineering and Materials Science (SEMS) within the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

The successful candidate will play a major strategic and operational role in enabling the continued success and future development of the School and Faculty. The role holder will have a particular focus on ensuring administrative and technical infrastructure and services are effective, responding to strategic and operational challenges in order to maintain a high level of support for research, teaching and administrative activities within the School.

Candidates will be required to have had substantial management experience, ideally in a Higher Education environment, with experience of managing a diverse team of professional staff, and of financial planning and budgeting, resource management, operational and strategic planning. The post holder will also be required to work effectively with the School’s academic staff and senior management, particularly the Head of School, and other areas of the university to achieve the School’s goals across the range of its activities.

The School Manager reports to the Faculty Operating Officer and will have a key role to play both at School and at Faculty level. The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of both the needs of the School and Faculty within the wider university and sectoral context.

This full-time, permanent position is available with a salary in the range £52,878 to £59,104 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, a defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
