Salary: £39,324 - £73,018 (Full time Lecturer salary from £39,324 - £46,924 a year with potential progression (to £52,793 a year). (Full time Senior Lecturer/Reader salary from £48,327- £55,998 a year with potential progression (to £73,018 a year). 

The University of Birmingham is continuing to make strategic investment across its research base in the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences. As part of a significant investment in Geography / Environmental Sciences staffing, we are now seeking to appoint at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level in Human Geography. The post is open to all fields of the discipline. The successful candidate will join the Human Geography Research Group, which has four research subthemes: Geopolitics, transition and the carceral; Adapting to energy and environmental uncertainties; Bodies, landscapes, materialities; and Urban and regional studies.

Applicants for this post must demonstrate (or show potential for) international excellence in their respective research area. Evidence of a track record in publishing work of the highest academic quality and impact is essential, alongside track record of / potential for obtaining external research funding. Willingness to collaborate across disciplinary boundaries within the School and College is strongly encouraged. In addition to demonstrating (or showing potential for) internationally excellent research, applicants must have a commitment to delivering excellent teaching and learning, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and communicating the relevance and impact of their research to stakeholders. The successful candidate will contribute to administrative tasks (appropriate to their appointment grade) to support delivery of research and teaching within the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences. The appointee will also be expected to supervise postgraduate taught and doctoral research projects in relevant areas.
