Graduate Tutor in Building Engineering Performance

Job overview:

The Department of Architecture and the Built Environment seeks to appoint a Graduate Tutor to contribute to teaching and research activities associated with the subject areas of building performance, energy and post occupancy evaluation.

The Graduate Tutor role is a total of 5 years which consists of:

  • 3-years position equivalent to a Research Associate (see generic description below).
  • 2-years extension at a position equivalent to a Lecturer.
  • Over the term of the contract the successful applicant will:
  • Complete a Doctor of Philosophy qualification in the area of Building Performance.
  • Complete a PG Certificate in Higher Education learning and teaching theory.
  • Deliver up 10 hours of teaching per week during the 24-week academic year, on the subjects of environmental design and building system performance.

Upon the successful completion of the 5-year term, it is envisioned that the Graduate Tutor will be offered a full time academic position with the University.

The research subject area shall contribute towards the department’s strategic activities in building performance and building design. The post is open to graduates with an interest in big-data analysis, energy systems, commercial building services, occupant behaviour and building performance evaluation.
