Postdoctoral Neuroscientist

University of Oxford - Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences (NDCN)

An exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Neuroscientist has arisen based in the MRC Brain Network Dynamics Unit working with Professor Peter Brown. You will develop, execute and analyse electrophysiological experiments in patients who have undergone functional neurosurgery for the implantation of deep brain stimulation devices. The project is part of a multidisciplinary scientific programme that is designed to develop closed-loop deep brain stimulation for the treatment of neurological disorders.

Your duties will include recording and analysis of electrophysiological and behavioural data from human subjects, including patients with Parkinson’s disease, to interpret data generated from these and archive electrophysiological data, ensuring that scientific data is of the highest quality and in a form for further mining, publication, archiving and presentation. You will also be required to manage your own academic research and administrative activities including preparation of scientific reports and publications.

You will have a PhD or equivalent qualification (or MD) in a relevant area of biological research and relevant experience of movement disorder patients and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes. Experience in electrophysiology of local field potentials would be advantageous.

The post is full-time for a fixed-term until 31 March 2020 in the first instance.

Only applications received before 12.00 midday on Wednesday 23 August 2017 will be considered. Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.
