About the role

The Senior Innovation Manager (International) role, is an exciting new post, which will work across our Innovation and Skills Group and International Relationship Unit to (enable us to) ensure we can maximise the impact of our investments in international activities for the benefit of developing countries, society and the UK economy. This is especially important as the UK looks to maintain its position at the forefront of research and innovation; demonstrated by the government’s commitment through the Industry Strategy and Official Development Assistance (ODA) spend.

Key activities are likely to include:

  • Working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain an understanding of how we can enable impact from our investments in research and innovation
  • Managing BBSRC’s collaborations with other partners and funders, including Innovate UK through the Newton fund
  • Contributing to and/or leading, where appropriate, to the development of programmes associated with BBSRC wider Innovation Strategy e.g. collaborative investments with industry.

About you

You will have a Masters Degree or PhD in a biological or related subject and/or previous relevant experience.

You must have good communication skills with the ability to write well-structured complex documents aimed at both internal and external audiences. You must also be confident in delivering presentations using a range of media.

You will have an understanding of the international bioscience research and innovation landscape and awareness of biological science research and innovation. Awareness of the broader ODA agenda is essential.

It will be beneficial if you have previous experience of line management.
