The Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB) is looking for a Career Track Research Leader (CTRL) in the area of food structure and health. We wish to appoint an enthusiastic research scientist to join the Food and Health Programme to lead an area of research studying the fate of food structures within the human gastrointestinal environment.

The Role 

The successful candidate will develop and lead research projects studying how the fundamental physico-chemical mechanisms underpinning the behaviour of food structure during digestion can positively benefit health. The research will form part of the Food and Health Institute Strategic Programme (FH ISP) at QIB. The Institute has a distinguished track record in multidisciplinary research into the structure-function relationships underpinning the nutritional benefits of complex food matrices.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have skills in food science, biochemistry biophysics or related areas. Candidates will require a Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, food science or similar. They should also have some relevant research experience investigating the physical chemistry of food structures, preferably in the context of nutrition and health. They should have a track record of high quality publications and evidence of applying for research grants. It would also be advantageous for applicants to have had prior experience in the supervision or training of students and other scientists.

Additional Information

Salary on appointment will be within the range £38,520 to £47,080 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This post is for a contract of five years.
