The laboratory of Professor James Moore in the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London is looking for a Research Associate to work on an exciting new project on chemokine mass transport in the lymphatic system. This project aims to develop a quantitative knowledge base of chemokine gradient regulation using integrated experimental and modelling approaches. The potential impacts of this work include (i) a more integrated understanding of immune function, (ii) subsequent immune system modulation for improved vaccination, and therapies for diseases with key immune cell contributions, such as asthma, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and autoimmunity.

The research, funded by a five-year Collaborative Award from the Wellcome Trust, includes a combination of experimental and computational modelling, with the Research Associate performing computational modelling of experimental and in vivo situations with complex geometries. The successful candidate must have a PhD (or equivalent) in biomedical engineering or a closely related field as well as excellent communication skills. Experience with the lymphatic system and/or with computational modelling and/or microfluidics is also desirable.

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £32,380 - £34,040 per annum.
