Research Technician - Teagasc National Farm Survey Farm Recorder

The Agriculture and Food Development Authority - Teagasc

Location: Teagasc, Moorepark Research Centre, Fermoy, Co. Cork.

Grade/Salary: Technician Grade 1.  The current salary scale for this post is €28,220 to €38,373.

Starting pay will be at the minimum of the scale as per Government Circular E100/8/82. 

Remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government Policy.

Basic Function: The successful candidate will be required to collect farm data from a sample of farms participating in the National Farm Survey in South Tipperary, West Waterford, East Cork, Limerick and North Kerry regions, and to canvass farms on an annual basis to participate in the survey.

Person Specification

Note: The ‘Essential’ qualifications, skills and knowledge outlined below are ‘must-have’ which will be used in the shortlisting process.

Essential Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a QQI Level 6 in agriculture, financial management or a related discipline.
  • Good accounting and numeracy skills.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Financial Accounts Qualifications/Agric Business Field would be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience in preparing farm accounts.
