Full time starting salary is normally in the range £18,793 to £20,147. With potential progression once in post to £24,591 a year.

This post is situated within the UK Student Recruitment and Outreach team. The team is responsible for the development and promotion of student recruitment and widening participation activities for the University within the UK. They undertake a wide range of aspiration raising events and student recruitment activities including arranging University representation at Higher Education Fairs throughout the country; co-ordinating visits to schools and colleges, organising University Open Days; receiving incoming visits from school pupils, teachers, careers officers and parents; distributing University prospectuses and other material. They also undertake a range of activities targeted at specific groups within the community as part of our commitment to widening participation.

The purpose of this post within the wider team is to ensure that the University commitment to widening participation is delivered. This means that currently under-represented groups are encouraged to apply to the University, through a range of activities, partnership working and action-based research.

This post will support the delivery of key activity that is of strategic importance to our Access Agreement with the Office for Fair Access (OFFA). This includes essential support for our Routes to the Professions Programme, our Evaluation Activity, and on campus visits by young people. This post will also assist with Financial Administration across the team. There will be considerable contact with Schools and Departments, university students and secondary schools in the wider West Midlands area on a regular basis. The post holder will be expected to show the necessary initiative in order to undertake this responsibility. The post holder will be expected to use tact, discretion and patience in dealing with internal and external contacts.

We are looking for someone with demonstrable experience of working in an administrative environment, able to work as part of a busy team, and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders including teachers, young people, parents and university staff. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator who would like to work in the field of widening participation.
