Lecturer In Paramedic Practice, 0.8fte

University of Cumbria - Department Of Nursing, Health And Professional Practice

Based at campuses in and around the Lake District and with a recent addition in London, the multi-award winning University of Cumbria is a wonderful blend of old and new, founded on a rich educational history with institutions dating back more than 150 years.

On the cusp of our 10th anniversary, we have a fast growing research reputation, increasing profile and place alongside national and international employers as well as multi-million-pound campus investments and exciting ambitions for the future.

The University has a substantial portfolio of paramedic programmes, delivering education from Certificate to Postgraduate level, and working with a number of different partners.  This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly motivated team in leading the coordination and assessment of portfolio based Level 4 Emergency Care Assistance provision with partner organisations, taking into account national developments for support roles within a paramedic emergency service.

The role will include teaching at our two main campuses for paramedic delivery, which are Lancaster and Ambleside and will focus primarily on the delivery of a Health Education England funded pre-degree award.  As such, the post-holder must be prepared and able to travel, and potentially undertake some off-site delivery for days or for blocks of time, as required. We are looking for an experienced paramedic or other suitably qualified healthcare professional who has a good understanding of the requirement for support roles within a paramedic/emergency service and the wider ambulance service.  Experience in the education of Emergency Care Assistants / Emergency Medical Technicians / Paramedics or other similar healthcare roles would be advantageous.

There will also be the opportunity to support the delivery of paramedic programmes, and contribute to other programmes within the department, especially those relating to paramedic, pre-hospital and emergency care.

We are seeking innovative, creative, high quality researchers, and scholars to foster a culture of exploration, discovery and intellectual challenge that generates international recognition, respect and engagement.

The Department of Nursing Health and Professional Practice is a busy and vibrant community, which has strong links with a number of professional bodies and employers and this is reflected in the high level of employment our students enjoy.

Interprofessional education and experiential learning are cornerstones of the educational approach used within the department, with a particular focus on employability of graduates.

The University and Department are committed to providing supportive and collaborative working environments for all staff. There is a comprehensive programme of staff development for academic staff and all colleagues are encouraged to enhance and develop their careers.
