We have a University funded position for a postdoctoral research assistant (PDRA). The post can either be taken for for 2 years at 60% FTE or 15 months at 100% FTE. The postholder will work within our interdisciplinary Global Food Security research programme team across the social and natural sciences. The programme looks at aspects of food security including the environment in which food is produced, the production systems, food safety, marketing and consumer choices, and impact on health behaviour, wellbeing and population health.

The principal task of the PDRA will be to work with the Global Food Security research programme team to develop project ideas and to contribute to peer-reviewed papers and grant proposals. If further funding is obtained, the position may extend beyond the initial period. Mentoring and support will be provided if the candidate wishes to develop an individual fellowship application.

The PDRA will work with the interdisciplinary Global Food Security research programme team to research a diverse range of aspects impacting on Global Food Security. They will determine the state of the art in specific areas relevant for global food security, contribute to review, opinion and original research papers where appropriate and help to write grant applications. They will develop a database of research capacity/experience within the University, organise meetings, develop new partnerships in ODA countries, and promote and manage a website and communicate research results via social media.
