Student Development Manager

Lancaster University - Students’ Union

Are you passionate about education? Are you able to identify creative solutions to problems and use organisation and effective management to see these solutions happen? Do you thrive in a position of responsibility? Are you looking for a new challenge?

Lancaster University Students' Union are looking for a dynamic individual to take up the role of Student Development Manager. You will accompany a strong team of staff and student officers in steering new and exciting projects that offer students exciting opportunities to develop new skills, engage with their local community and discover new networks. Much of these will be within the initiatives of the LUSU school’s work whilst you will also be expected to work with colleagues across the Union to identify and develop engaging new student opportunities.

Currently working with over 40 schools, 350 student volunteers and 11,000 pupils through a variety of activities, LUSU are keen to attract a talented professional who can accelerate their schools outreach activities to the next level of quality. You will be joining an energetic team who all challenge and push each other so we are looking for someone who can continue to support their colleagues in this way – a strong team member who can work creatively with others and takes pride in being part of something bigger than themselves alone.

To succeed in this role you will need to have astute organisational and management skills with experience of budgetary responsibility. You will need empathy for schools and pupils and a good understanding of the latest opportunities and challenges across the education sector. You will be expected to lead from the front with regards to student recruitment and use excellent communication skills to be an engaging spokesperson and a ‘face’ of activity with internal and external stakeholders.

In return we can offer you an attractive employment package, pension contributions, and a supportive, flexible, and fun work environment. You will be able to contribute to the direction of the charity over the coming years, and shape the projects and activities for future students at Lancaster University.
