Fixed term for 24 months

Band 500 Full time starting salary is normally in the range £21,904 to £23,532. With potential progression once in post to £27,242 a year.

IT Services are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced and committed individual to the posts of Network Operations Analyst to support the Universities campus Network. The Network Operations Analyst will be responsible for the technical support for the curriculum and administrative infrastructure of the University. This role will be one of 5 new roles forming a new team to support the campus network infrastructure.

 This is an important post within IT Services, providing a focus of management, technical expertise, support and development in the following areas: Brocade Wired Network, Aruba Wireless Networks, Core, Distribution, Edge and PoE Networks, DNS, DHCP etc..

This expertise is vital for new developments and supporting the day-to-day running of a large and complex infrastructure.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Experience of Network support within a complex environment
  • Good broad knowledge of C&IT, including latest technology industry trends.
  • Considerable, relevant experience in a similar service environment.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collectively within a team environment.
  • Customer relationship management skills.
  • Communication skills written and oral.
  • Knowledge of Higher Education and its environment.
  • An awareness of developments in IT services of potential relevance to the University of Birmingham.
