Network Manager (CO2CHEM Network)

Chemical and Biological Engineering is a thriving department within the University’s Faculty of Engineering, comprising 34 academic staff, 41 research staff and technicians, 11 support staff and over 500 undergraduate and postgraduate students. The Department has a vibrant research and teaching culture spanning particle science and technology/nanotechnology, new energy technologies, the environment and applications of post-genomics bioscience for biotechnology and bioprocessing applications.

The CO2Chem Network is an EPSRC Grand Challenge Network, based at the University of Sheffield, that acts as a global focus for researchers, industries and policy makers interested in carbon dioxide utilisation. Established in 2010, the Network has grown to over 1,200 members worldwide.

You will be part of a supportive team headed by Professor Peter Styring and will be responsible for the coordination of a number of CO2Chem Network activities including: maintaining the Members Database and website (, writing and distributing the electronic newsletter, organising and advertising symposia, workshop, Status Conferences and Summer Schools. You will also be involved in looking at new methods for marketing network and CO2 utilisation, including videos, case-studies and animations to engage the public.

It is essential that you have a good honours and/or postgraduate degree (or equivalent experience) in a Science or Engineering discipline along with a proven ability to organise and deliver events such as workshops, conferences and summer schools. Knowledge of carbon dioxide utilization technologies is desirable.

This role is 40% part-time over two years with flexible working patterns possible.
