Are you interested in working for a world top 100 university? We have an exciting opportunity in the Faculty of Social Sciences for someone with a passion for project management, looking to use their organisational and communication skills to support the wider research aims and objectives of the new and prestigious ESRC Sustainable Care Research programme. Educated to degree level, you will have experience of project management within higher education.

You will be the Programme Manager for the ESRC Sustainable Care Research Programme and International Network, which is funded Nov 2017 to April 2021 under the ESRC’s Large Grant programme, reporting to its Director and Principal Investigator, Professor Sue Yeandle.

The programme brings together a team of 20 academics from seven universities, linked to an extended network of international academic partners in 15 other countries. It will take a future-oriented and internationally comparative look at current approaches to arrangements for meeting the care needs of adults living at home with chronic health problems or disabilities, examining these in the context of care systems, care work and care relationships.

The Programme Manager will play a key role in overseeing the delivery of the project. You will be responsible for the day to day running of this large and ambitious programme, including its budgetary, reporting and planning mechanisms. You will provide day to day management of project activities and specialist advice on all programme matters to the PI / programme team and will be line manager for the programme’s Administrative Officer.

You will oversee and take responsibility for the operational and administrative aspects of the programme (including financial management). This includes development and operation of financial, administrative, project monitoring and reporting systems. You will oversee the programme’s internal and external communications strategy (including website, newsletter and social media presence). You will work closely with academic staff and partner colleagues across the whole Sustainable Care network, understand the contexts for the programme’s research and related activities, and support the wider research aims and objectives of the programme. The post is likely to involve some national and international travel.

You will have a degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience) and excellent IT skills. Experience of project management within higher education (or a similar context) is essential.

This post is full-time and fixed-term until 30 April 2021. The closing date for applications is 31 August 2017.
