We are seeking an enthusiastic researcher at post-doctoral level, ideally from a physics background (or similar) with experience in MR development to join the Division of Cancer Sciences at the University of Manchester to work with Professor van Herk. The post is funded through the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre (BRC).

You will work within the Radiotherapy Related Research (RRR) group and will have an exciting opportunity to work in developing research integrating imaging into radiotherapy. This will involve developing novel image acquisition and processing techniques focusing on efficient geometrical and biological adaptation for the MR-Linac and on integrating scans made on our Siemens MR scanners into the radiotherapy workflow. Possible projects include development of 4D MR for radiotherapy treatment planning, e.g. in cardiac and lung imaging, and functional imaging for treatment response monitoring and adaptive planning.

You will have a proven track record in magnetic resonance imaging, and a strong desire to work on radiotherapy imaging developments. The work is likely to incorporate a degree of translational research which will involve close collaboration with clinicians at The Christie in relation to developing clinical applications.
