Salary Range: Research Associate: £36,800 – £44,220 per annum (Maximum salary on appointment will be £38,730 per annum)

Fixed-term appointment for up to 32 months

An exciting new research associate position has become available within the interdisciplinary research group led by Dr Ranil de Silva (Vascular Science / NHLI) and Professor Rob Krams (Bioengineering). You will join a highly motivated and integrated interdisciplinary research group funded by the British Heart Foundation. This translational research project is focused on applying state-of-the-art methodologies to develop the first coronary fluid structure interaction (FSI) model of coronary atherosclerosis, aimed at uncovering new underlying mechanisms and predictive models for the formation of those advanced acoronary plaques that cause acute coronary syndromes in patients.

You must have a PhD in Bioengineering (or equivalent) for this appointment. Previous experience in FSI modelling is also essential for this project. In this translational research programme, you will gain experience in experimental cardiology, intracoronary imaging and histology as well as machine learning approaches together with our established collaborators.

You will also be expected to contribute to the supervision of research students and to the management of the research group. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to acquire unique experience and skills in a multidisciplinary academic setting.
