Research Executive Officer

The School of Economics and Finance at Queen Mary University of London invites applications for the post of Research Executive Officer. The post holder will play a lead role in promoting and implementing the School’s strategic research plans, contributing to the School’s long-term REF strategy, co-ordinating documentation and impact information-gathering and synthesis, and writing impact cases for the School. He/she will actively encourage academic staff to showcase their research and will plan and implement the School’s public media research profile. In addition, the post holder will facilitate research grant funding opportunities, including horizon scanning for relevant grants, and writing applications with a proven ability to contribute content and editing for technical material, including for non-technical audiences.

This is an ideal opportunity for a creative and dynamic candidate with a PG degree in economics or other related social sciences, who has the interest and ability to promote and sustain the research culture in the School, and to oversee the processes that can help in-house academics to maximise their research efforts.

The post-holder will work closely with the Research and Joint Programmes Manager, the Chair of the Research Committee, and the School Academic leads on REF and Impact.

The School of Economics and Finance is among the leading Economics departments in the UK and home to over 45 academic staff and a vibrant community of approximately 35 PhD and postdoctoral students. Its members routinely publish in leading international journals and the School research has considerable impact on policy making and public debate.

The School is based on the Mile End Campus, a thriving area in the East of London. This is a 0.4 FTE fixed-term position for two years. Starting salary will be in the range £45,577 - £50,881 per annum pro rata depending on qualifications, skills and experience. The salary is inclusive of London allowance. Benefits include 12 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
