University of Oxford - Estates Services - Direct Labour Organisation (DLO)

Estates Services is responsible for the management and strategic direction of the University of Oxford’s functional and commercial estate comprising some 440 buildings and the associated infrastructure.

The Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) is responsible for day-to-day reactive and routine maintenance across the University’s estate.

The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for both reactive and planned maintenance of mechanical plant equipment across the University estate. They will report directly to the Mechanical Supervisor, but will be responsible for prioritising, planning and carrying out allocated tasks.

As well as extensive experience of mechanical maintenance, the post holder will be computer literate and able to keep accurate electronic records, ideally using handheld devices. Experience of supervising contractors is essential, as is the ability to work in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
