The Institute for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences at the Southern University of Science and Technology invites applications for a full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty position in social sciences at rank of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor to begin September 2017. The successful candidate will teach general education courses inScience, Technology and Society, including history of science, ethics of science, sociology of science, and policy of science;

The successful candidate will contribute to social science curricula that encourage interdisciplinary approach. Quality undergraduate teaching and mentorship, as we as innovative research and service are expected. With the exception of senior candidates with tenure, initial appointment will normally be made on a three-year contract, renewable subject to mutual agreement. Tenure review and promotion normally takes place before completion of the second three-year contract.

Applicants should have a PhD degree from an accredited institution of higher education. Senior candidates are expected to have a high international standing in the fields, with an exceptional track record of high-quality research and scholarly publications. The university teaching languages are English and Chinese. Satisfactory knowledge of Chinese is preferable but not required.

Salary is highly competitive, and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include university subsidized housing and health insurance.
