Building Service Technician/Custodian (Fixed Term)

We require an additional member of support staff for the Clifford Allbutt Building (CAB) and Island Research Building (IRB) which are located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.  The CAB/IRB are cross departmental research buildings which are part of the School of Clinical Medicine. They are occupied by groups from various departments and houses approximately 200 research staff. 

You will be responsible for a range of general support activities and custodial duties which include filling of liquid nitrogen containers; hazardous waste processing and changing CO2 cylinders as well as identifying and carrying out minor repairs within the building e.g. putting up shelves, changing lamps/light bulbs, and water filters as required.

You will also assist with accepting and processing deliveries and onward distribution to the labs; using UFS to receipt goods and deal with discrepancies with Purchase Orders and delivery notes.

You will cover for the Glasswash technician, which will involves collecting dirty glassware from labs, running the glasswashing machines and sterilising autoclaves, and returning items in a timely manner.

Ideally you will have previous experience in carrying out repairs and dealing with goods processing, while experience in the operation of autoclaves would be an advantage.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2019 in the first instance.
