Part Time Senior Lecturer in Social Work

£39,992 to £47,722 per annum (pro rata), together with USS pension benefits.

The normal expectation is that the successful applicant will be appointed to the minimum of the agreed scale with annual increments on 1 October each year (subject to completing six months service).

To deliver its top 20 ambition Swansea University is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer with excellence in teaching in the College of Human and Health Sciences.
This is an opportunity for a candidate with teaching and academic potential and interest in Social Work to develop their career at Swansea University. The post is within the Department of Public Health, Policy, and Social Sciences. The successful candidate will be joining a team of Social Work staff, and Social Work at Swansea has been consistently ranked within the top ten Universities within the UK. The Department is also the location of the Wales School for Social Care Research.

The Social Work programme works closely with five partner local authorities (Carmarthen, Ceredigion, Neath/Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire and Swansea) and has an annual intake of 30 BSc Social Work and 20 MSc Social Work full time students. It is committed to the development of social work practitioners able to respond to the demands of, and developments in, contemporary social work in Wales.

The successful candidate will be expected to liaise with the representatives of five partner local authorities in order to prepare, support, monitor and review the practice learning opportunities for students across three levels of study. The post holder is also expected to contribute to teaching on the BSc and MSc degrees.

A Senior Lecturer on an academic career pathway with excellence in teaching will be required to contribute to teaching and graduate supervision, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. In addition they are expected to share organisational and academic management responsibilities across the College where required.

The post also requires high quality delivery of teaching and student learning and a commitment to enhancing the overall student experience.
