Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Child Nursing

Canterbury Christ Church University - School of Nursing

Background

The School of Nursing brings together Adult, Child, Mental Health and Learning Disability Nursing into one vibrant and dynamic community. Our aim is to provide a high quality learning experience for our students to enable them to realise their ambitions to become registered nurses and to continue their development through a range of continuing professional development opportunities. We are committed to providing a supportive environment for our students so they can develop the knowledge and skills to provide nursing care that is person-centred, compassionate, safe and effective.

The Role

The School of Nursing is seeking to appoint an experienced Child Nurse or Child Nurse Lecturer to positively contribute to the development of the nurses of tomorrow. As an experienced registered Child Nurse, you will be able to evidence continued personal development and positive engagement with students. A specialist qualification and/or post-graduate teaching qualification would be advantageous and we are particularly looking for expertise in neonatal nursing. You will need to demonstrate commitment to the support and inspiration of child nursing students in their continued quest for knowledge and skills.

Requirements

You will be committed to high quality, evidence based learning and teaching and be able to facilitate learning of a broad range of child nursing principles, take on the role of personal tutor and engage in inter-professional facilitation of mixed professional groups. You will be expected to contribute to modules in the pre-registration undergraduate programme and you may teach on post-registration and postgraduate modules related to your own expertise. You will also provide support to students during periods of practice placements. An under-pinning principle of our work is the importance of the student experience and we would expect you to share this value and work in ways that will enhance it.

The post holder is required to be current on the NMC register and will be expected to have a minimum of a first degree in a relevant discipline.

Additional Information

Our staff enjoy competitive salaries and a great working environment with a number of benefits ranging from the occupational pension scheme to use of the University’s facilities including the library and fitness centre.
