Research Associate/Fellow

We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to an NIHR-funded study ‘QbTest Utility in Treatment Optimisation in ADHD’ (QUOTA) led by Dr Maddie Groom. The aim of the study is to assess the feasibility and acceptability of adding a cognitive assessment to clinical monitoring of treatment effects in children with ADHD aged 6 to 17 years. Study participants will be recruited and assessed at 3 clinic sites in the UK to gather data on feasibility and acceptability.

The successful candidate will be responsible for liaising regularly with clinics to monitor recruitment of participants to the study and to gather outcome data. You will also contact parents and teachers to complete outcome measures and you will manage data entry. In addition, you will work with other members of the study team to conduct interviews with study participants and to analyse and interpret the data from those interviews. You will work closely with Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) representatives and you will also help disseminate study findings in academic, healthcare and PPI domains.

This post is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a study with potential clinical impact. The person appointed will be a highly-motivated individual with excellent organization and time management skills who can work independently. 

Candidates must hold an undergraduate degree (upper 2nd or 1st class) and a PhD (or be close to completing a PhD) in a relevant health or social science discipline (or equivalent). Strong research skills (quantitative and qualitative) are essential and experience of mental health research or research within a healthcare setting would be an advantage. 

The post will be offered on a fixed-term contract until 31st March 2019. The post is offered on a full-time basis (36.25 hours per week). Job share arrangements may be considered for this post.
