General Manager (Catering)

The University is seeking to appoint a General Manager of Catering to be responsible for providing Catering and Hospitality services to the Student and Staff community and its many visitors and guests.

Main duties & responsibilities

The post-holder will be responsible for the provision of all catering for the University of Hertfordshire, ensuring excellence in quality and service to ensure value for money and the best possible customer experience for our students, staff and visitors. This role will involve the successful management of teams on both campuses and events in other areas off campus.

Skills and experience needed

We require a leader with great dynamism, strategic awareness and a passion for excellence, with proven experience of managing large teams in a fast paced changing environment.

A high level of commercial acumen is vital, with experience of budget management including setting and achieving financial targets being a key aspect of the role.

Demonstrable success in creating a culture of exceptional service delivery is essential.

Skills required:

Excellent leadership/people management skills

Excellent communication & presentation skills

Able to work effectively as part of a team

Excellent written and numerical skills

Qualifications required

  • Relevant degree or HND in one or more of the following: Business or Management studies, Hospitality Management, Hotel and Catering Management
  • Recognised training in performance management, personal effectiveness and leadership skills
  • Current driving licence
  • Level 3 Food Safety Qualification
  • IOSHH managing safely or NEBOSH qualification.
